OraQuick® - HIV self-test for home use
OraQuick® - The world's first HIV self-test that works with saliva. Reliable, fast and uncomplicated!

HIV self-tests are recommended by the Deutsche Aidshilfe (German Aids Federation)
We are proud that the German Aids Federation recommends the OraQuick. The test was developed for easy use at home. Get reliable test results discreetly in the privacy of your own home - without taking blood!

Millions of people worldwide already trust the OraQuick® HIV self-test. Until now, it was only available to professional medical staff in Germany and Austria. Now our OraQuick® HIV self-test is also available for private use and is recommended by the German Aids Federation and the Paul Ehrlich Institute.

In 2020, there were about 2,600 first HIV diagnoses, of which 900 patients - i.e. 35% and thus more than a third - already had an advanced immunodeficiency, 460 patients were already suffering from AIDS (18%). One speaks of AIDS when serious illnesses occur, such as a certain form of pneumonia (pneumocystis pneumonia), fungal infection of the oesophagus and trachea or certain types of cancer (e.g. Kaposi's sarcoma) or also when there are fewer than 200 helper cells (lymphocytes) per microlitre of blood.

Getting AIDS as a result of an HIV infection can easily be avoided. In fact, HIV does not have to stand in the way of a long, fulfilling life these days. Modern medicine has HIV under control. However, this is only true if the infection is recognised and treated at an early stage. An HIV self-test can help here. This prevents permanent damage to the immune system. Regular testing with an HIV self-test makes exactly that possible. Moreover, testing with an HIV self-test is discreet and quick.

By the way: In addition to HIV self-tests, self-diagnostics also offers rapid medical tests and drug tests.

Why HIV self-testing is also important for heterosexuals
In the early 1980s, HIV spread especially in the gay community and soon became a pandemic. At that time, the infection, which in almost all cases triggered AIDS and led to death, was the reason for discrimination against homosexuals. Today, this is part of a dark past. HIV makes no distinction between homos and heteros. We are all the same - and that is a good thing. An HIV self-test provides clarity.

To date, the most common route of infection is still sex between men (61 %). However, heterosexual contact (12 %) is the second most common cause of HIV infection. This is followed only by intravenous drug abuse (9%) and the administration of contaminated blood or clotting factor concentrates (0.5%), the latter of which was predominantly an issue before 1986."[6]

So seriously, test yourself with an HIV self-test! Testing means taking responsibility. Testing is as much a part of sexuality as contraception. Better to test once more with an HIV self-test than once less - no matter what your sexual preference or lifestyle! With our OraQuick® HIV self-test you can do it within 20 minutes and for the first time ever with saliva instead of blood. Try it! Be safe!

Test your HIV status - when and where you want
Without an appointment, without long waiting times and completely painless. You will receive a reliable result within 20 minutes. The saliva sample is collected by swabbing the upper and lower gums. Unlike a blood sample, saliva is not infectious or dangerous to others. The test determines whether antibodies against HIV are present due to an HIV infection.

No medical professionals are needed to perform the HIV self-test. Every layperson (18 years and older) can perform the test independently at home - without prior knowledge. Determine your HIV status and keep an eye on your health with the OraQuick® HIV self-test.

Why HIV self-testing is more important than ever.
Prepare to get your mind blown!
The German population deals with the topic of HIV in an enlightened and responsible way. We thought so too. The sobering figures published by the Federal Centre for Health Education in 2020 prove the complete opposite. The results of an anonymous, one-year survey conducted between October 2018 and September 2019 blow our minds. And not in a good way.

Sad but true: HIV and safer sex facts in numbers
Not even 1% of sexually active people aged 18-60 in Germany (pregnant women excluded) had taken an HIV test or HIV self-test in the years between 2010 and 2015[1]
22% of single males and 26% of single females reported NEVER using a condom during sex in the last 12 months[2]
45% of men and 44% of women who had sex outside their relationship in the last 12 months reported NEVER using a condom.[3] Nearly half of men and women risk contracting HIV or other STIs when cheating.
Among heterosexual couples, 29% of men and 30% of women have talked about HIV or other STIs with their partner before having sex for the first time[4]. Among homosexual women and men, the figure is equally around 40%.[5]

Why HIV self-testing is so important?
Well, duh! The numbers speak for themselves. Against the following background, they are not to be trifled with: There are over 91,400 people living with HIV in Germany. 9,500 of them - 7,900 of them men and 1,600 women - do not even know about their infection. That is about 10% of those infected. With an HIV self-test from self-diagnostics, this number could be significantly reduced.

In 2020, there were about 2,600 first HIV diagnoses, of which 900 patients - i.e. 35% and thus more than a third - already had an advanced immunodeficiency, 460 patients were already suffering from AIDS (18%).
